When we found out last year that we'd be going to Hawaii the one thing that Zach said he really wanted to do was ride waves at the North Shore. I think it'd be fun to do some surf lessons together when we go back but Zach wanted to rent a boogie board and ride the waves that way. Random thing to do, in my opinion, but since Mr. Rusty and Mrs. Charlotte had a rental car we planned to spend the whole day Monday at North Shore. We got up early that morning and ate the free Aflac breakfast then headed out. I got so car sick and was pretty much miserable all day. It's tough to sit in the back seat of a tiny rental car for two hours when the driver isn't sure where they are going and the other passengers are totally doing back seat driving! Our first stop was Dole Plantation. I remember visiting it on my previous trips and wanted Zach to at least see it. We got there before they even opened so we just looked around at all the pineapples. It's so neat to see them grow...
At the end of our tour, the bus took us to the Aloha Tower area where we had a complimentary lunch. It was pretty good food and I enjoyed getting to SIT DOWN! When we left we saw TONS of fish right off the side of a bridge! It's so beautiful to see such clear waters. We saw all different types of fish in so many colors and several people were buying fish food to feed them. It was really neat! more of the fish I am a HUGE fan of Hawaii. I LOVED it both times I went in high school, and that love has only grown. Every single little shop we saw I told Zach I'd love anything from there. I just love every single part of Hawaii. The weather, the scenery, the language, the people, but most of all the overall culture. It's just a HAPPY place with an overall positive vibe. After touring the USS Arizona Memorial , our tour bus took us to the USS Missouri. The Missouri is where Harry S. Truman signed the documents officially ending World War II. That's about all I remember about it haha. By this point in the morning I was pretty exhausted. I didn't realize how much walking would be involved or that I was really just getting started! On the bus on the way over these people in front of us starting talking to us. Talking to people is a tricky thing. I LOVE talking to people...but don't want to be stuck with them. I enjoy friendly conversation but when I'm getting a massage or on a vacation I just want to enjoy it. Not get sucked into some new friendship that we all know isn't going anywhere. The people in front of us were nice...but not our type of people (they were New Yorkers who made fun of God a couple of times...). Well they tried to cling to us and it got old quick.
