Hollywood Studios: Star Wars Day Part 1

Wednesday, April 5, 2017

We had the kids miss school on Friday March 3rd so we could use it as a park day. When Kye decided on Disney for his birthday he wanted to do Hollywood Studios to experience all the Stars Wars stuff (which, btw, there is a TON of it even without the Star Wars Land being there yet!). We decided to add on a second park day for Magic Kingdom because Tess had only gotten one MK day on her first visit and we always do two MK days for a first visit trip ;) That first day at Magic Kingdom is overwhelming for a kid who hasn't ever experienced Disney so I like a second day where they have the hang of everything and can really enjoy it all fully! I know you can't fully see their outfits in this pic but I wanted to go ahead and say where we got all our clothes for this day at the park! Kye shirt is personalized ("The Force is Strong with Kye") and I ordered it from Jane . I've never really bought much from there but happened to see it and it was an awesome birthday gift! H...

The Value of Your Tribe

Monday, April 3, 2017

We all remember high school. The struggle of finding friends. How much you valued those friendships. The reality is, high school never truly ends. And finding friends as a mom? Even tougher than in high school! It's hard to SEE other moms let alone make those connections to actually begin a friendship and  then have the time to allow that bond to strengthen and grow. And guys there is SUCH value in friendships. Especially in this busy, crazy, kid-filled phase of life. We need our tribe. If you have been putting off forming friendships then I encourage you to make it a goal for this year. Even make a list! See a girl at church who looks friendly that you'd like to get to know better? Write her down. Got a friend on Facebook who likes all of your posts and always says nice things? Write her down. See a mom at the schoo...

Keeping Cool Outside When It's Unbearably Hot

Friday, March 31, 2017

I live in SOUTH Georgia. As in the hottest place on Earth. We are not near an ocean. We do not have cool breezes coming from the water. It's hot. And in the summer? It's unbearable. I know other areas of the country have high summer temps as well, but throw in our insane humidity and I think we win ;) When summer approaches we see commercials showing family gatherings outside. Bike riding. S'mores. Watermelon eating contests. Every winter we fantasize that maybe this summer it won't be so hot but every summer we are stuck with the heat! Outdoor play is not just important for our vitamin D or for our children to get out of the house and get a break, but it's also important for ourselves. Breathing in fresh air (yes even 100 degree humid air) is refreshing and revitalizing and will help ease the stresses that being a mom brings (especially being a mom who is home with kids all day every day all summer long!). Here are some tips for beating the heat so you...
