Back in 2014 we got SUPER EXCITED because it was supposed to snow. The kids didn't have school, we had all sorts of snow activities planned. We were PUMPED. And then super, mega disappointed when the snow didn't really happen ( you can see the fun activities we did instead here ). When we heard that we might get snow again, we didn't get our hopes up. I legit didn't get even a tiny bit excited or anything. It was Jan 3rd so the kids already didn't have school and Zach did end up staying home from work because a lot of local businesses and roads were closed due to the ice conditions. All y'all know we live in SOUTH Georgia. Like as far South as you can go and not hit Florida. This area hasn't seen snow in over 20 years. Well before the days when I lived here and so long ago that I don't think Zach even remembers it happening. Expectations were low, which made the excitement that much more awesome when it ACTUALLY HAPPENED.
Snow Day at the library is one of our favorite family traditions. Last year we ended up missing out on it because I think they canceled it due to weather and never rescheduled? Or they hosted it earlier in the season and I didn't know about it? I can't really remember! This year it DID get rescheduled but we made sure to be able to make it! It was smaller this year but it worked out because they didn't do such a great job spreading the word. I assumed it'd be CRAZY crowded. The original date was on a Friday, at 3:30, when kids were in school. So we'd planned to pick up Kye from school that day and go straight there and assumed hardly anyone would be there because most people in the community work and can't pick kids up from school like that. The new date was a Saturday. I don't know if all towns are this way but when places in our community have events for the entire town? They get CRAZY crowded. I fully anticipated a large crowd with it on a Saturday but ...
Every year our local library hosts a "Snow Day" where they bring in ice and call it snow ;) For us in the south...it counts! Up until our ski trip this past December it's the only "snow" our kids have seen! It's a fun event and is one we always try to be able to attend. This year it got canceled due to bad weather but they rescheduled it and we happened to not have any plans so it worked out! It was a beautiful afternoon and a great outing! We got there after Tess nursed and made it home by the time she was ready for her cat nap :) Of course Zach got a bunch of kids involved and made a snowman :) G-Mama even came by! (Tess doesn't look too impressed by it all ha! I've decided she's like her mama and prefers indoor activities!)
