On Saturday, December 17th we had Brittlynn's newborn photo shoot. She was 11 days old. I would have liked to have waited a little bit longer since newborns change so much so quickly, but I wanted to get the birth announcements and Christmas cards out before actual Christmas :) The day she was born one of my first thoughts was about what I'd order for her to wear for her photos. I LOVE a naked baby look in newborn pictures...I think clothes tend to take away from the baby and it totally dates the photo ya know? Since she is a "she" though I wanted her to wear something to make her look feminine. I hunted Etsy (the BEST site, I LOVE it!) and found both a beautiful headband and an adorable set of bloomer things (that's the correct term right? The things that cover the diaper? One of the biggest jobs we have as parents is to instill a solid self-esteem into our children. It's important for our kids to grow up feeling like they matter, that they have worth. However, it's also important for children to take responsibility for their actions. We live in a world today that is far more concerned about hurting kids feelings than holding them accountable. Parents blame teachers when their kid gets in trouble, parents fight with coaches when their kid doesn't get playing time, parents don't discipline for fear it'll scar their child for life, etc etc etc. Blogging is a tricky thing. I LOVE it and am glad so many of you read it, but having people read it means I also have to be aware of what I write. I don't believe in fluff. I don't blog to get more followers. You moms know what it's like...when you have a new baby at home you don't know what day it is, how long it's been since you last showered, and your surely don't step foot outside the boundaries of your home for weeks. I had NO CLUE how pretty it was outside!!! I saw on Facebook that Crissy had been laying out and I was in shock...I assumed it was cold simply because it was December. When Kye was born my dad was living in Omaha, Nebraska so there was no way he could make it in time for the birth. This time Dad was planning to come down when the time came for Brittlynn's arrival but he was in Mississippi hunting! We talked about it though and really it was better for him to wait to come so we could actually spend time together. It'd be kinda silly for him to drive down (he lives north of Atlanta now) just for the big announcement then I'd be in the hospital so he wouldn't really get to see me! It meant so SO much to me that he wanted to come down to meet her and visit with us. The whole second baby thing can be hurtful. People really tend not to care as much about the second born baby and I don't understand that. She's still just as much a new baby as Kye was! Who cares that she's not our first?!?!
