My purpose for blogging is to journal my children's lives through my perspective as well as share myself with my children so when I pass away they will always know ME. While that's all wonderful and good...how are they REALLY going to cherish these posts someday unless they are printed in books? Making blog books has been something that is a top priority to me. Seriously. I told Zach that if I died randomly I would go to my grave regretting not getting all these posts made into books. Well, I will no longer have that regret b/c I am COMPLETELY caught up on blog books. What! What! I know, be impressed ;) Up until a few months ago I had made one blog book. One lonely little blog book. I used Blurb to create it and I blogged about it here . I was happy with the result but it took me a LONG time to make it and there were a few things I wasn't crazy about with it...one being that the cover of the book was just a plain book and they made a wrap cover to go over it that was...
I am a VERY independent person. I don't often ask for help and I can think of very few times in my life where I actually needed help with something. My recent foot surgery (post to come on all the lovely details!) required me to reach out in a way I'm not used to, or comfortable with. Since this is a new area for me it gave me an opportunity to do some self reflection and realizations. I am somewhat of a social media junkie. If you post something on facebook, there is a 90% chance I will at least "like" it. I've probably "retweeted" a tweet or two from you. I most def have "liked" your instagram photos. For me, social networking is a GREAT way to connect with others and when people are in need, it provides me a quick way to offer them my support. How do I do it? I will say a prayer RIGHT then for whatever that need may be (if I don't pray right away then I'm likely to forget to pray later! I've found that in the mome...
Remember back in the day when parents would have a HUGE framed picture of their daughter in her wedding dress hanging in their house? Remember when you'd go to weddings and see that large picture on display somewhere? Remember those photo shoots for the bride before the wedding? I feel like no one does them anymore? However, I totally did! And you get to see those pics today :) I don't think I've ever used a single picture from this shoot for anything (heck, they aren't even up on Facebook!) but I'm still glad we did the shoot. It's fun looking back through them now but I especially am so thankful I had a chance to try out my hair, makeup, and overall look prior to my wedding day. I did NOT like my hair for these pictures at all and knew what to tell my hair stylist the day of to give me the look I wanted! Looking through all these pictures brought back a lot of great memories for me of such a fun day. Riding around town in a wedding dress is SUCH a BL...
There are many areas of parenting that are debatable. We all have our own opinions and ideas about what is "best" and many times those ideas may clash with what others believe is "best" for their children. One of the few parenting choices that is not debatable is regarding breastfeeding. Everyone knows that breast milk is the BEST nutrition for our babies. Even formula companies compete with each other to see who can be the "closest thing to breast milk." While we all know breast milk is the best source of nutrition, we all have to make the personal choice whether or not to breastfeed. I know many, many mothers choose not to nurse their babies and this isn't a post to make anyone feel guilt over that choice. Instead, this is a post to encourage those who do want to breastfeed and to share my personal experiences and what helped me to be successful with it when nursing my children. I also know there are mother's out there (I have a few frie...
