Rainy Afternoon at MK

Thursday, December 14, 2017

After our morning at Epcot we rode the monorail to hop over to Magic Kingdom. We knocked off quite a bit during our MK time at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party but there is simply no way to fully enjoy the party AND do everything we want to do at Magic Kingdom so we planned an afternoon/evening at MK as well. We knew it'd be crowded (afternoons at MK are pretty much always crowded) but we had FP and knew the rides that typically don't have much of a crowd. Tess had fallen asleep on the monorail ride over and was pretty sleepy/grouchy when we got to MK. We went straight for Monsters Inc Laugh Factory! It was the furthest back we've ever sat but I didn't mind it. It let us get a FULL view of everything! It's amazing just how many people they can really fit in the room!  We did a fastpass for Tomorrowland Speedway. And yes, I know, it's kinda a dumb fastpass. BUT we had a ROUGH wait for it on a prior visit and I knew all the kids really l...

Filling The Day With Your Toddler

Tuesday, December 12, 2017

Ahh back to school. I have so many friends rejoicing in the break they now get. No kids at home for 8 hours a day? Such freedom! Then there is me. Me and my 3 year old. She attends a half day preschool program a couple mornings a week but that hasn't started yet so we have all day every day "just us." Don't get me wrong...I fully enjoy this quality time with my 3 year old. Quality one on one time with any  of my children is rare but especially with the third one! However, it's often tricky to plan our days when we are down to "just one" at home. When you have multiple kids under your roof all day during the summer you get into a set routine of how to juggle all those balls at once. Now that school is back in? How can you productively spend your day with a little one still under foot? Structure Having a set routine is so beneficial at every stage in life. From sleep training an infant, to surviving home life with a toddler. There are endless bene...

Preparing Children in Times of Crisis

Sunday, December 10, 2017

As a parent we aim to keep life as simple as possible for our children. We want them to be KIDS. Not to deal with adult concerns, adult issues, adult responsibilities. Childhood is precious and we aim to protect our children as much as possible. However there will be times in life where we can't keep our children in a little bubble of safety and protection. We recently had some severe weather in our area (Hurricane Irma) and it required our children to have knowledge and the ability to prepare in the event that the storm got to a point where their safety could be in jeopardy. However, there is a delicate balancing act as a parent during times of crisis. We want our children prepared, but we also don't need to cause them unnecessary anxiety.  Here are my tips for preparing children in a time of crisis: Keep Your Cool Yes, this is directed at the parents. Freaking out in times of crisis doesn't help anyone. Not the situation, not your ability to cope, and...
