Outside Time

Saturday, October 13, 2012

I know I've been an MIA blogger this week but I DO still have a giveaway going on! It ends SUNDAY so go over and enter to win NOW! Last I checked there are less than 10 entries...um that makes the odds of you winning super high!!! :)

I think as parents we ALL have areas we know we need to do better. One of those areas for me is outside play. I know it's a random thing to struggle with. But I loathe sweating. Like my favorite form of exercise is swimming laps mostly because you don't sweat ;) We live in South Georgia. If you step outside for like 5 minutes you're gonna sweat. I can't stand it so therefore I'm picky about when I go outside. And I need to get over it...I KNOW it's important for my children to go outside and play. Even if it's a pain to put on sunscreen (and yes, I lather them up every time we go out). Even if it means I'm gonna get sweaty and gross. Even if it's hot. And there are bugs. And I don't fully enjoy it. Gotta sacrifice for the goodness of my children...that's what being a mama is all about, am I right???

So I've been working on this! We have a good chunk of free time in the afternoons and Brittlynn is a lot happier if we go outside to play. Kye also loves it so I'm learning to enjoy this time more too!

Last time in the "baby" swing
Getting to swing in the "big girl" swing

Brittlynn is a natural with swinging. I put her in the swing and she just knew what to do to get herself going...total swing genius ;)

We decided it was time for Kye to swing on a regular swing and no more bucket swing. He swings on the "big kid" ones at school and should at home as well.
He is NOT happy about it!!!
Sometimes just having one happy child is a win ;)

Getting to bring his cars outside to play made him a lot happier ;)

This child needs some GIRLY toys! I'm excited for her birthday and Christmas!!!

What activities do you do outside??? I wish we had a better spot for bike riding...Kye NEVER rides his bike! We live on the corner of a busy street and since we are on a corner our driveway is super small. Not much area for bike riding! I thought it'd be neat someday to maybe pour some concrete in the backyard...be able to use it for a basketball goal, an area to park extra cars if needed, place to play with chalk, and a place to ride bikes in the backyard!
