Growing up I always wanted to marry a man who would be home at dinner time and I always wanted to be the type of wife who had dinner ready on the table for him and our children. While the reality doesn't quite fit the fantasy (it's more like Daddy walks in the door and helps manage the children while I rush around finishing up dinner and we eat it on Disney placemats while reminding one kid to eat over her plate 1,000 times, another to sit up and stop lounging, all while the third says "mama mama mama" over and over b/c all she really wants to eat is applesauce...) I still take pride in cooking for my family and hearing my husband say how much he enjoys the meal makes my heart so happy :) At this phase of life recipes are about one thing for me: EASE. I need stuff that's easy to cook, quick to cook and that we will all, for the most part, actually enjoy eating. When I got pregnant with my third child I became obsessed with my crock pot and started doublin...
I'm SO excited that Kelly from Kelly's Korner is brining back her Show Us Your Life link-ups. I have met several blog friends through the Show Us Your Life posts and I have always looked up to Kelly as a blogger. She keeps it real and I'm all about that with my own blog too! So today's link-up is all about introducing ourselves and our blogs...here goes! I'm Emily! I'm 31 years old and live in Valdosta, Georgia. As a little girl I would pretend that I was in a tv show based on my life (think Truman Show) and would talk to my audience through my mirror (think Zach Morris "time-out" style). I had this idea that I'd one day write a series of books based on the "tv show" of my life...and blogging is my way of fulfilling that childhood dream :) All of the pictures of me have at least a kid or two in them...the only solo ones are either with Disney characters or with food. So I'll do one of each: My passion in life is...
I am LOVING the series of blog posts that Kelly from Kelly's Korner is hosting! SO many bloggers out there tend to be all about the negative and use their blogs to cut others down. I'm SUPER excited that these blog topics are all about encouraging each other and lifting each other up :) I missed out on the first couple in the series but plan to participate in all of them from here on out. Today's topic is "Remembering YOU (taking care of yourself and your identity)" I take my role as a mom VERY seriously. I am honored to be a mother. I'm thankful to be able to stay at home with my children each day. However, I also make a conscious effort to stay true to who I am as a person outside of that mothering role. I have witnessed moms who completely lose themselves in their children. It's an easy thing to do! Your children NEED you and they are constantly showering you with love, affection, praise, and attention. It'd be so easy to let...
Today on Kelly's Korner she's doing the theme of family. Isn't it fitting that on my son's birthday I take a moment to appreciate my own wonderful family? I think so! You hear all about Kye and Zach and me all the time here, but aren't you dying to know more about where I came from? You can thank my parents, Jody and David, for the awesomeness that is Emily! ;) In my immediate family I also have a younger brother, Brandon, who I love very much. Mom My mom, Jody, is one of those naturally born mothers. She was born in Bay City, Michigan and moved to Satellite Beach, Fl the summer before her senior year of high school. She has 5 siblings (she's the 4th girl followed by 2 boys!) and we're very close to all of them. Her whole life she dreamed of being a mom and I love that I helped her fulfill that dream! She stayed home with us until I was 9 (when my parents divorced) and I'm beyond thankful for that. She is the reason I feel so passionate about ...
