Today is Babywise Friendly Blog Network Day! I'm posting over at Mama's Organized Chaos about preparing your child for their first day of preschool and Kim from Team Cartwright is guest posting here on a super fun summer topic: 7 car staples to have on hand for spontaneous summer fun!!! Summer is a great time to be spontaneous. Kids are out of school, days are longer, and it seems like we just have more freedom to do what we want. I am big on my schedules, but even I like to be able to say yes to spur of the moment ideas. The sprinklers are going as we leave story hour? We should totally run through them. We are at the farmer's market and there is a splash pad nearby? Let's go! Basically I want to maximize our fun whenever we can. One thing can hold me back though. I am not spontaneous by nature. I like to have a plan, and I like to have everything ready for any activity we do. This might make me sound pretty lame, but when you have three little...
It is SO hard to believe that it's only been a year since we started embracing a more "Dave Ramsey" style of life. Want to read about the changes we made? You can do that here! I will be the FIRST person to tell you, we are NOT hard-to-the-core about Dave's system. We don't "live like no one else so we can live like no one else" and I'm okay with that. Sure, if we had started our adult lives with these principles we'd probably feel differently about it. But we have children. And our children will only be children for so long so we aren't willing to take some of the more drastic measures in order to get ahead financially. Zach and I both want that balance of spending smart, saving smart, but also enjoying the now. Yes, we travel. That is one of our...
Saturday, Feb 9th was one of those super-full-crazy type days. We had a LOT of plans. Zach and Kye planned on going to Lowe's that morning while Britt napped and I got ready then Kye and I had Lorelai's birthday party at lunch time and we were letting him skip nap to attend it and then he and I were rushing to a second birthday party that afternoon then rushing back home to get pics of Zach and Britt prior to them attending the Father/Daughter dance that evening. Whew. I'm exhausted just remembering it! So, as so often happens when we have a TON going on, plans got a little messy. I was running around getting ready when Zach and Kye walked in the door from Lowe's and told me a lovely story about my car. They had taken my car that morning with Big Daddy's trailer attached to get some wood and other bigger items. They hit up Habitat For Humanity on their way to Lowe's and somehow hit a big bump or something that caused the trailer to come unattached and hit ...
