Learning Basic Coding Concepts with Legos {Guest Post}

Thursday, May 10, 2018

What kid doesn't love legos? Have you ever considered the benefits of learning basic coding concepts using legos that you already have around the house? Me either! Super thankful to Kim from Team Cartwright for writing on this topic for me today! I'm guest posting over on Mama's Organized Chaos about how to set up a family budget! Screens are everywhere. And knowing what is going on behind those screens is a valuable skill, one I admit I wish I knew more about. Coding is a very marketable life skill, and it is a great learning activity for kids. Kids of all ages actually. You know what else is great for kids? Legos. I just love Legos the support open-ended play and creativity along with STEM skills. Legos are also great for teaching children about coding. Don't worry, this is doable for even the biggest technophobe. Grab some legos and try this basic coding activity for kids of all ages.

Summary of Month 18

Whew! I know I'm mega late on this and I hate that...but life right now is a constant go-go-go and I just can't slow down! I am probably including way more pictures than I should and I will probably ramble more than usual. Typically when I blog I write to my hearts content then go back and severely edit to make it shorter (I was "that kid" in school who needed the word limit on papers or I'd go over it haha). This post won't have much editing so be warned! Words: I have to start this month off talking about Kye's TALKING! It's really taken off and I'm so excited about it. He took awhile to walk and awhile to talk so it's okay :) He is saying things much more consistently but still not on demand. So it's harder to catch him on video saying them but I promise he does! I started keeping a list in my phone of all the words he says so I can actually remember them and it's pretty long: no (VERY clearly and uses it appropriately - now ...

Learning Time

Thursday, August 26, 2010

As I mentioned in my post about Kye's new schedule , I have been feeling a lot of guilt lately over my parenting. I know that many of you think I'm hardcore but I wasn't feeling hardcore enough . I felt like the things in my schedule gave Kye TONS of playtime but that it is time for some learning time too. I'm about 80% sure that Kye will go to pre-school and I want him to be well prepared for those days. I want him to be a good student and understand how to sit still and listen. It's not like kids just walk into a classroom and magically acquire those skills. They need to be taught...and right now I'm the one who should be teaching him! I stumbled across this site (which is labeled "Activity Board" under my "Sites I love" section on the ride sidebar in case you want to reference it in the future!) because the Babywise Blog Mom actually uses it for her learning time with her kids. In my book she's practically Super Mom so if she does...
