6 Week Postpartum Check-Up

Sunday, October 26, 2014

I'm not sure if all obs/hospitals work this way but when I had Tess they told me at the hospital to make sure I scheduled my 6 week postpartum visit. 1st baby? I'm sure I booked it within a week of being home. 2nd baby? I probably wrote a reminder to myself to call and made sure to do it soon. 3rd baby? I totally and completely forgot to even remind myself to call ;)  I think I finally made the appointment when Tess was 4 weeks old. I ended up having to reschedule due to Zach being gone and me having thrush! So I rescheduled and totally didn't think about the fact that Britt is home on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I took the only appointment they had and it was on a Thursday morning (the day Tess turned 7 weeks old) and was with a nurse practitioner, not even a midwife.  I was interested to see how everything would go with having both girls with me! After being without the big kids to deal with the thrush, I was ready and eager for the challenge of the two kids out and ...

39 Week OBGYN Visit

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

I just got home from my last visit with Stacy. She is having her baby this Friday so today was our last chance to talk and for her to see me before she is gone on maternity leave. Everything looks good. Baby's heart rate was in the 130's and sounded great which is a huge blessing. When she checked me she said I'm now 3-4 cm dilated, 70% effaced, and -1 station . So for sure progress has been made since last week. (Last week I was 3 cm dilated, 60% effaced and -2 station). She said my bag of waters is detached from the wall which is a good sign too. At this point I already had Kye so I obviously didn't have an appointment. At this point I had also already had Britt. But I went into labor with her the day of this appointment. When I went to the appointment that morning I was 4 cm dilated, 90% effaced and -1 station. I went into labor a couple hours later. Since I've never reached my due date before, I have no clue what happens. I wanted to talk as much as I co...

38 Week OBGYN Visit

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

First, I want to say a HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you to EVERYONE who has prayed for our family and specifically for Mr. Rusty! He called yesterday and the pathology report was finished and: NO CANCER! Praise the Lord! We are all over the moon thankful and excited and just so relieved. Honestly, I think majority of our family was super sure it was cancer. So much so that the news that it's not  cancer is actually taking awhile to set in! Truly the power of prayer is an amazing thing :) Today is/was the day that Zach and I both predicted our baby would be born. I made my appointment for this morning specifically for the reason that this same appointment put me into labor with Kye! Obviously, since I'm writing this, I'm NOT in labor ;) Appointment went great! I've been feeling SUPER good so I actually didn't have any questions at all for Stacy. She did the heartbeat first and it was in the 150s! This baby has rarely been that high! Both Kye and Britt were lower than tha...

1 Day Shy of 38 Weeks OBGYN Appointment

Thursday, July 17, 2014

Since I just had an appointment on Friday, at 37 weeks, I'm not sure if I should still consider this morning's appointment as my week 37 one or go ahead and call it the week 38 one since I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow!  I'm thankful this morning was one of those quick appointments! I had planned to take the kids to the movies (they have dollar days during the summer) and we made it just in time for the movie :)  I was able to see Stacy and she said right when she saw me that I looked like I wasn't feeling so great...um that's for sure!  My pregnancy symptoms went from feeling pretty good to feeling like I'm falling apart in just 6 days haha! We listened to the heart beat right away and it was in the high 130's - low 140's. I will discuss all my symptoms in more detail tomorrow (assuming no baby before that post!) but I asked her about having my calves cramp and she showed me the proper way to stretch them and recommended taking some magnesium...

37 Week OBGYN Visit

Friday, July 11, 2014

In order to fill y'all in about my visit this morning...I first have to fill you in about my day yesterday! This week hasn't been an overly crazy week. I've felt pretty good, overall. Some symptoms that labor is coming (increased pressure, occasional cramping) but nothing major. I don't feel like I've overdone it or anything either? Zach has been out of town so when I started feeling increased cramping and contractions yesterday afternoon I immediately worried. I was having peaks and valleys to the contractions so I do feel like they were legit. I tried resting. I tried drinking water. I tried eating. I tried sleeping. I also tried pooping. Nothing made them stop and they were pretty much constant.  With both of my previous deliveries I basically skipped the early phase of labor. With Kye I got checked at my weekly appointment, came home, and BAM! my water broke. From there on contractions were pretty legit and there was no wondering whether or not labo...

36 Week OBGYN Visit

Wednesday, July 2, 2014

This morning I had my first weekly obgyn appointment which also included my last bloodwork appointment for this pregnancy and my last appointment where there won't be any checking for progress :) It's gonna start getting funnnnn  next week haha! I didn't have the kids come with me since I had to have the blood work done (I don't want them to see Mommy being a total WUSS when it comes to needles) and because today was the day of my strep b test which did mean I had to undress and I just don't feel comfortable with "down there" stuff going on with the kids in the room ya know?  The appointment wait, of course, moved quickly this time. Last time it took ages when I had the kids and this time when I came prepared with lots of reading material it was mega fast haha! That's how it always works! Blood pressure looked good. I don't even know what scale looked like. I'm past the point of caring about that! They gave me a little white sheet ...

34 Weeks Pregnant and OB Visit

Only 4-6 weeks left until this baby should be here!!! Have you entered the baby pool yet??? Don't forget to make your guesses! Also be sure to enter the giveaway I have going on for a cute nursing scarf...contest ends tomorrow! Baby Growth:  Leo is now about 4 and 3/4 lbs (weight of a cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Doesn't 18 inches sound SO LONG?!?! It's awesome to be at this point in pregnancy b/c most babies born from this point on, even though they may be early, are 100% fine! Leo needs to stay put until I'm at least 38 weeks though :)  My Symptoms:  Nesting nesting NESTING!!! I am in full on baby mode right now. I am constantly organizing stuff! Even just this morning I filled another two bags of my clothes to donate (I've filled 4 big garbage bags total!). While I'm purging a LOT of stuff...I'm stocking up on baby things. Like, to the extreme haha. I completed all my registry stuff and have officially ordered or purchased eve...

32 Weeks Pregnant and Last Ultrasound Visit!

Now entering my 8th month of pregnancy!!! AHHHHHH!!!! Don't forget to enter in the  BABY POOL ! Start making those guesses and predictions :) Baby Growth:  This week Leo is roughly 3.75 bs (size of a jimaca?) and is about 16. 7 inches long. I had my 32 week ultrasound and check up yesterday so we'll get to the specifics about that size here in a minute!!! Assuming I gain about 1 lb a week here on out the baby is actually getting about ½ of that! Lots of growing left to do and not a whole lot of space to do it in!  My Symptoms:  Well y'all this has legit been the most crazy, emotional roller coaster week ever haha. Friday of last week I spent most of the day prepping for Casey's baby shower that I co-hosted with Courtney. I wrote more about everything that happened in  this post  but, long story short, Casey got admitted to the hospital so was unable to come to the shower. It all still turned out super cute and I'm thankful we were able to take a lo...
