How to Successfully Travel with an Infant

Thursday, June 28, 2018

Traveling with an infant is not always easy, but it is possible and it is worth it! We have traveled with ALL of our babies at young ages and have seen many benefits of starting to travel with them while they are young (they are all excellent travelers!). Wanting to make a trip with your baby but not sure how? Here are my tips for successfully traveling with an infant:

Tips for Road Trips with Kids

Today is Babywise Friendly Blog Network Week! I'm posting at Wiley Adventures about how to parent while it feels like your world is crashing down and Carrie is posting here with some GREAT tips for road trips with kids! We have taken so many road trips with our four kids, that I have started to prefer car driving to flying with kids. As a family, we all really like to travel and now that our kids are getting a little older, they are able to really enjoy it too.  Since my oldest was born, we have traveled several times a year to see family or for family vacations. We have logged thousands of miles across Texas, and are started to get our fair share in across the southern states now too.  Each of my kids are different in the car, which shouldn’t surprise me. One of the things I notice and talk about the most with them is how different they each are from each other. They each have their own quirks and that doesn’t change when we strap them into their seats and hit ...

St Augustine: Arrival and Fishing

Wednesday, August 1, 2012

This year July 4th fell on a Wednesday. We weren't sure when to go on our trip...the weekend leading up to the 4th or the weekend following it. I called our go-to place (our "beach house" as Kye calls it) and rates were cheaper if we went the days prior to the 4th, so that's what we did! Sunday July 1st was our check-in date. Zach and Kye went to church as I still wasn't feeling well (good ole strep!) and it gave me a chance to get everything 100% ready to go. As soon as they got home we loaded up and headed out. It was our first real test with our Traverse . We bought a luggage trailer from Matt and Robyn awhile back and went ahead and bought a luggage storage thing for it for this trip, we used it for the Disney trip for the first time and it worked GREAT! It made life easier and we were able to put both Zach's and Jordan's golf clubs in our trunk with still TONS of space. We also invested in a roof rack storage thing but didn't need to use it. We ...

Travel With Two

Thursday, March 8, 2012

Zach and I mastered traveling with Kye pretty quickly. We learned little tricks to make life easier while not at home so it wasn't too difficult to transition into traveling with two kids. Prior to kids, Zach and I would stay ANYWHERE. And I do mean anywhere. Like gunshot-holes-through-the-lampshades-with-bloodstains-on-the-walls type places (remember the second National Championship Game Katie???). Once Kye came into the picture, we still were down for whatever but we needed enough space to fit his pack and play. Now, however, I am much more picky when choosing a hotel. For this particular trip I used hotels.com. When you stay 10 nights you get a free night. It's a really awesome rewards program and since Zach does travel we wrack up nights pretty easily. Also we earn extra thank you points per dollar for booking through them online so that's like more free money. Actually it ended up being that we had earned a free night so we actually stayed at this hotel for two ni...
