Kye Monthly Summary: January

Thursday, March 5, 2015

This is a summary of Kye's month from January 2015! Errands:  Now that I have three kids...errands have become "special treats." Take a kid with you to get something done and it kills two birds: you get the stuff done and  you get solo time with that child! Kye very rarely sleeps at his naps so we will let him skip on occasion and it works out great for him to be able to get that special time. Since he goes to school every day, he and I don't get the alone time that I get with the girls!  Publix outing! It was awesome  because we had a great time together and he pushed the cart the entire time for me. Easiest trip ever :) Check out the beautiful sky! We also had a fun donut morning this month! I took all three kids to get donuts when the big kids had a day off school. It was a little  crazy but well worth the effort! Kye and I did have to have a BIG talk about being appreciative and thankful for what we have. It was a lot of work for me t...

Kye's 6th Birthday Slideshow!

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Well...today my sweet little boy is SIX. It has truly been such a blessing to be his mama for these past 6 years and I'm SO excited for all the fun that will continue in the future. I'm sure before we know it he'll be 16 and will totally be mortified that his whole life is on display for so many to see ;) Every year I do a slideshow for each of my kids on their birthdays that includes pictures from their previous year. Here's Kye's slideshow (featuring songs he chose!). I laughed out loud remembering the pig that bit him at Wild Adventures and his awesome sign language skills from his pre-school graduation :) I also got teary eyed seeing the pics of the instant love he had for Tess when she was born and going through all his baby photos to make the collage above. It seems like SO long ago that he was a tiny baby...he's such a big kid now! He ended his "year of 5" last night by telling us that he wants us to have more babies so we can teach the...

5 Tips for Increasing Supply While Breastfeeding

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

It's amazing to me how different parenting is with each child. Each pregnancy is different, each baby is different, and your body is also different every time. With my first child I had issues with over  supply. I had "hyper lactation" and produced more  milk than he needed. With my second, I had some struggles with both producing too much in the early days and then not making enough when I started dieting in an unhealthy way.  This time around (baby #3!) I never felt like I made nearly  as much milk as I did with the others. I don't know if it's age (I've reached the big 3-0!) or if it's just the way my body has responded to her. She is also my smallest baby so I've wondered if maybe she just drinks less so my body makes less? I felt like early on with her that I was making the perfect amount of milk. Not too much and not too little. We've been in-sync since she was born.  My body has also held onto my weight more than it did with the oth...

Goals of Financial Freedom: Next Step!

Monday, March 2, 2015

When I first read Dave Ramsey's The Total Money Makeover it became a life changer . It's my favorite gift to give to people who are graduating or, heck, even getting married. I wish I'd read it when I was in college. I wish I could go back and undo a lot of the choices Zach and I made financially early on in our adult lives. But you can't go back! We keep our focus on what is ahead  and these past couple of years have been so amazing now that we are in control of our money! You can read about how our journey started here ! Our first step was to pay off all of our debts. We didn't have student loans or credit card debt, we had medical  debt. Being self employed our major medical coverage is never that stellar. Between babies, and back surgeries, and foot surgeries...medical debt adds up quick . Up until we started the Dave plan we were paying the lowest monthly amounts possible. We also had a couple personal loans we were paying on. We snowballed it all and pa...

Library Snow Day 2015

Sunday, March 1, 2015

Every year our local library hosts a "Snow Day" where they bring in ice and call it snow ;) For us in the south...it counts! Up until our ski trip this past December it's the only "snow" our kids have seen! It's a fun event and is one we always try to be able to attend. This year it got canceled due to bad weather but they rescheduled it and we happened to not have any plans so it worked out! It was a beautiful afternoon and a great outing! We got there after Tess nursed and made it home by the time she was ready for her cat nap :) Of course Zach got a bunch of kids involved and made a snowman :) G-Mama even came by!  (Tess doesn't look too impressed by it all ha! I've decided she's like her mama and prefers indoor activities!) Tess experiencing her "first snow" It was SO funny...Mrs. Charlotte was super worried about Tess getting snow on her/being cold/etc. She supported her for the pics and was ...
