Snow Day 2017

Wednesday, February 1, 2017

Snow Day at the library is one of our favorite family traditions. Last year we ended up missing out on it because I think they canceled it due to weather and never rescheduled? Or they hosted it earlier in the season and I didn't know about it? I can't really remember! This year it DID get rescheduled but we made sure to be able to make it! It was smaller this year but it worked out because they didn't do such a great job spreading the word. I assumed it'd be CRAZY crowded. The original date was on a Friday, at 3:30, when kids were in school. So we'd planned to pick up Kye from school that day and go straight there and assumed hardly anyone would be there because most people in the community work and can't pick kids up from school like that. The new date was a Saturday. I don't know if all towns are this way but when places in our community have events for the entire town? They get CRAZY crowded. I fully anticipated a large crowd with it on a Saturday but ...

Our Christmas {New Years} Getaway

Every year Zach and I do something just us around Christmas time. We used to ALWAYS go away together every year on a legit trip. But when we added a third baby to the mix we have tried to find a better balance as we don't like having to ask people to keep our kids. SO our deal is IF we go on Aflac's National Convention then we do a mini-trip instead. If we don't do National Convention then we go away on a longer trip together. We do the same for our anniversary: If Zach makes Presidents Club we treat that as our anniversary trip, if he doesn't make it then we take an actual trip for our anniversary. It's work out super well so far and it gives us two trips a year JUST US and I love that our anniversary is in May (Presidents Club though is typically in April) so it spreads out the two trips nicely :) This was a non-Presidents Club year (B/c stinking Italy got CANCELED...so we went to Cali instead! ) but it was a year that we attended National Convention ( we surpri...

Goals for 2017

Tuesday, January 31, 2017

Every year I come up with a list of goals for myself, and our family, for the new year. I have read a lot about people choosing a WORD for the year and I really, really like that concept. I've thought on it a lot and have decided my word for 2017 is: PRODUCTIVE Here's the definition of productive: " doing or achieving a lot  :  working hard and getting good results" I debated beween intentional and productive but productive just resonates with me and I even say it out loud to myself as a reminder when I'm going down a non-productive path. My days are busy and crazy. I'm usually doing multiple tasks at once with a list of several others to be working on. It's hard to always stay on task and remain productive in that task. I have found during times when I get a lot done and stick to a schedule that I FEEL better. I like that feeling of being productive and of knowing I got a lot of things accomplished in a given time period. I want to be productive a...

Year End Review: 2016

Every year I make a list of goals for the year and then at the end of the year I come back and review those goals to see how I did. I haven't read over my 2016 goals list in a hot minute  so I have a feeling I did pretty sucky with completing the list during the year. I know I have a plethora of excuses as to why I didn't get 'em done and I'm pretty sure the craziness of 2016 will also change the way I make my goals for 2017. Here's a review of my goals for 2016 and how I did with each: Continue to devote the first 30 min of nap time to spending time with God... work on pouring into my Bible during this time. : I did AWESOME with this up until Zach's medical stuff hit and then I struggled with it. It was hard to pour into God's Word even when it's a time when I should have been pouring into it the most. My prayer life still grew, but my study struggled for a bit. I am back on track and working on reading through the entire Bible (no set timeline on...
