Monthly Summary - December

Friday, January 27, 2012

December was a VERY full month...Kye welcomed a new sister into the world and celebrated Christmas. Even with all the craziness, Zach and I tried to focus on Kye and make sure he got special attention during this big transition period. Here's what Kye was up to in December: Kye's House: I'm a hoarder with stuff and I totally keep boxes. I mean you never know when you'll need them right? For once it came in handy and Zach had the fun idea of making Kye a house out of the boxes. It was pretty awesome! Kye had a BLAST coloring it and playing in it. The downside was when Zach realized he made it so big it wouldn't fit through the doorways. It couldn't stay in the MIDDLE of our kitchen though either. It was a pretty humorous site to see Zach and I lifting the house and carrying it over the kitchen bar then over the stair case to put it in the dining room. It stayed there until we took down the Christmas decorations. I was nervous to take it down, that Kye would...

1,000 Posts!

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

It is pretty crazy that I've written 1,000 blog entries isn't it? It's neat to me to think back to starting the blog in August of 2008 and to see how it's changed over the years. Literally back then I had like 1-2 hits a day and they were pretty much my mom and Rachael ;) Now I'm getting over 1,000 hits a day (and only a few followers away from 200...I plan to do a giveaway once I hit that marker so if you're a stalker admit it and follow the blog so we can get this thing going!) and have made SO SO many wonderful, amazing friends. Friends who I can count on for anything even if we only know each other through the cyber space world. It's pretty amazing and I don't know what I'd do without all of you wonderful women in my life! Kelly, who I literally met from blogging, is now one of my real life best friends. People thought I was nuts when I went and stayed with her without even having met her in real life! Same thing with Robyn...she contacted me t...

UTI

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

I swear my poor child! Kye rarely gets sick and he's never had the common kid things like ear infections...yet he's had unexplainable rashes , random huge bug bites , and now a UTI. Yes, a urinary tract infection in a 2 year old boy . Kye has been fully potty trained for quite some time now and since Brittlynn was born he's excelled even more with the potty (most kids regress, not Kye!). He now goes completely on his own. He'll pull down his pants, go on his little potty (and hold down his junk so he doesn't spray it everywhere), then pull up his pants, dump the little potty in the toilet, flush it, and put the potty back. Pretty dang impressive. It's made my life easier because when I'm nursing and he has to go potty he can just go and doesn't have to hold it until I'm done. All I have to do it make sure I leave the bathroom light on throughout the day for him! While Kye hasn't had potty issues, he hasn't been without his own ways of ac...

Week Four Summary

Oops! I forgot in the Week Three Summary post to provide a link to look back at Kye's third week! Here it is and for sure look at it because there is a picture of me on there that looks SO much like Brittlynn! Brittlynn's fourth week of life was from December 27th through January 2nd. Here's a rundown of what was going on during that week :) Sleep: Her awake times started to spread out a little and she started being SO alert. FINALLY!!! We thought at the time that her tired cue was being fussy (spoiler alert...we have since figured out that she was fussy b/c of GAS and not because she was tired...). We took the sleep wedge out of the crib because it wasn't really helping and it only caused her to slide down from it so a lot of times she'd be out of view of the video monitor. IF we allowed her to be, I think she'd be a tummy sleeper. She would cry pretty constantly during naps but when we pressed her against us she'd fall right to sleep. She also would ...
