I was born without the ability to smell. Don't believe me? Read this :) It isn't something I think about very often. I've never known life with the ability, so I don't know what I'm missing. I do get sad if I think about it too much...especially as a mother because I have no clue how sweet my babies smell. But on a typical day, it's something I never give a thought about. I know many people are quick to tell me how "lucky I am" but I promise you, I am not lucky to be missing out on the smells of the world...even the bad ones. A big downside of not being able to smell the bad smells is I can't tell when my own breath is bad. I can't sneak a fart b/c I have no clue if it stinks or not. My dogs have taken advantage of this. When we first got Levi I worked my butt off crate training him. He is very well trained! However, add in some kids and a new house and he is a totally different dog. As a parent do you sort of chuckle to yourself when you see a young couple all about their dog? You think "just wait" because you know that once a baby enters the picture the dog will no longer be treated like royalty? My high school boyfriend bought me a dog when I was 16. I spent most nights alone at my "apartment" through high school and Sadie was there with me to keep me company. A warm body to hold at night or whenever I was afraid. I loved her like a child. When Zach and I got married and he wanted to have kids right away I said "let's get another dog." It's been a little busy around here but I'm thankful for these monthly posts as it gives me a place to put the little moments that I could easily forget with time. Here's what Kye was up to during his 20th month of life (from Oct 4th- Nov 4th): Words: His vocabulary is just growing and growing. It's hard to imagine I was ever nervous about his lack of talking! In addition to all the words last month , he's now also saying: doggie out , mama (for both Gramma and G-Mama), animal sounds (bah for sheep and goat, snorts for pig, moo for cow, neigh for horse, bark for dog, meow for cat, who-ha for monkey, roar for lion and tiger, here's a video of some), marvin (from his favorite book), glasses , book , cool (here's a video ), big , slippers , Colt , Payton , reading ("re-re"), sit down (always points to the seat, it's a demand for sure!), seat , church , cake , tv ("see-see" which means he wants to watch his YBCR movie and here...
