Goodbye "Hip Baby"

Monday, October 28, 2013

From birth my sweet baby girl has been a "touch baby." She has always responded to touch more than anything else. If she's crying? Hold her and the tears disappear. Want her to smile? You gotta tickle her! Making silly faces at her or saying "cheese" just ain't gonna get that smile to appear. She has to be touched! I have always said that she is my "hip baby" and I have joked that it's probably why my foot problems all started. Carrying a baby on your hip all the time will wear you out and I have mastered doing many things one-handed! Britt would have probably LOVED it if I was an attachment style parent. I could see her enjoying being "worn" on me all the time and she'd also probably love to co-sleep if I were down for it. I've held her and cuddled her much, much more than I ever did with Kye. She just needs it more and is the way she is comforted and feels loved. She will sit down on the bottom step and say "sit si...

Britt is 21 Months Old!

Saturday, October 26, 2013

Britt turned 21 Months Old on September 6th! This month I decided to use pics of her and Kye together for her monthly post. This was a big month in the world of siblings: they play TOGETHER and they ENJOY it!!! It's awesome! I can get stuff done without having to keep an eye on Britt constantly because the two of them will happily play together on their own! Whoooohooo!!! Playing army guys and even cleaning up as a team ( here's a video ) Using  What to Expect the Toddler Years  here is where Britt is at compared to the norm for her age. At 21 months Britt can do everything a toddler her age should be able to do  including: build a tower of two cubs point to one body part when asked Kye asked for a picture with some of his "friends" and guess who came running saying "me too!"? Britt can also do everything a 21 month old will probably be able to do including: kick a ball forward identify two pictures by pointing remove...

Embracing the Yoga Pant

Friday, October 25, 2013

Yesterday I had my 2 week visit with my new foot doctor. Since my last appointment I have been wearing my new shoes non-stop . I've followed that 60 second rule hard-to-the-core and literally wore the shoes everywhere . Yes, including church!!! I broke down and bought some yoga pants. I've never owned any before but now I have 5 pairs. Which means I wear the same pair a couple days in a row if they aren't dirty haha. Um...I did NOT know how expensive yoga pants were?!?! What the heck? I went to Target and they were $30 each!!! Luckily I found some for $12 at Academy Sports but struggled to find a brown or navy pair anywhere . Why would they only make black or gray? I mean don't people want to wear a variety of colors to yoga? ;) I ended up finding some navy and brown ones on Amazon (I LOVE me some Amazon...Prime is TOTALLY worth it btw!).  Two weeks into wearing the yoga pants and I already completely "get it" why they are the go-to for so many moms...

No, it's not even Halloween yet but it's already time to start thinking about those Christmas Card photos! I know we have our photo shoot scheduled in mid-November and I'm already creating color combinations in my head for our family :) I truly love having photos taken of our family together. I take hundreds millions  of pictures of my kids all the time but it's rare to get our whole family in front of the camera. So when we do? I try to make it count!!! I thought for today's Babywise Friendly Blog Network Tips and Tricks Day it'd be fun to give 5 tips to make the family photo process easier! You can check out other stuff for Christmas on our Pinterest Board!

Britt Summary of Month 21

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Britt was 21 months old from August 6th through September 5th! Gah countdown is ON for her birthday...I better get to planning this party :) Words:  sticker, Mickey, Big Papa, G-Mama, Big Daddy, block, hide, mouse, house, buckle, she now combines two words together, kye date, cool dude, golf, Pay-Pay (Payton), Coco (Courtney), coffee, me, no ma'am (praise her HARDCORE when she says it! Here's a video of it , it's so funny to me how exaggerated the ma'am portion is), thanks, cut, gobble, rain, tea, crocs, bowl Eating:  This month I worked more with Britt on using bowls/plates on her tray. I'm also giving her more of what Kye and I eat with less concern about her being able to "handle it." She LOVES dipping raw carrot sticks in peanut butter!!! Doing her prayer hands! Sleep:  Britt still sucks her fingers when she's tired, upset, or needs comfort but she doesn't suck them at ALL when actually ASLEEP. She has been a "...
