Many childhood fears are pretty common across the board: fear of the dark, fear of scary scenes in movies, fear of fast rides, fear of dogs, fear of being alone etc etc. Rather than waiting until your child expresses these fears and then trying to find a solution for them, there are ways to help prevent the fears in the first place. Easing their minds and keeping your life easier! No Night Lights A very, very common fear children have is being afraid of the dark. This is such a common fear that parents often start off their children with night lights from birth. Growing up I was such a child who feared the dark. Even now if my husband travels I leave a couple lights on so I feel safer. This is a fear I didn't want my children to have. It's not fun feeling fearful. I am also nearsighted and have read that vision issues can come from sleeping with a light on. If I could prevent my children from being fearful of the dark and possibly help their vision too? I was all f...
This month of Kye's life was awhile ago and also took place during a major move, a major surgery, and the holidays. Poor kid got neglected when it came to writing down things, taking pictures, and videos. So much so that I thought I'd just combine his two monthly posts into one! Words: Kye's vocabulary continues to expand at rapid speeds each month. While I know I missed writing down many of the words he started to say here are the few I did write down (I actually save them in a memo on my phone): water (now says the actual word instead of "wateee" like he used to), milk (says "malkt"), "g o away cat/doggie/mommy " (here's a video ), Gramma (says "mama"), 2-4-6 , 4-5-6 , push , blue , help . He enjoys saying "Bye bye" to everything (box, door, cat, doggie, etc). He also enjoys asking for help and will do so all the time. It's MUCH better than whining though so I'll take it ;) Fears: Those toddler fears are...
Here's what's been going on with Kye this month! Peek-A-Boo Bath: Kye's new favorite game in the bathtub is peek-a-boo with the shower curtain. Here's a video of it. We're still working on the swimming survival skills in the tub like we were last month too. Teeth: I feel like the whole month was filled with TEETHING. Yuck. Kye has never been an easy teether. He gets fussy, misbehaves more and doesn't sleep or eat well. Kye currently has 10 teeth total! Here are his four bottom teeth The two middle bottom ones make me nervous b/c they are so close together and seem to get plaque build-up mega easy. You can see the discoloration from the plaque in this picture (double click on it to make it bigger)! Any tips on what to do about it? Here's a pic of Kye's 4 upper teeth and 2 top molars. They are both all the way through (which means the bottom ones are probably on their way soon boo!) Silly Boy: Kye's personality is really ...
