Kye had a big month in February! He had his very first research project for school. Back in the fall he did an oral presentation about a community helper (you can see his cute fireman outfit we made here !). He also did a report on Walt Disney . This time he had to do a report, poster board, and oral presentation about a country. It was a pretty big deal! The country Kye was assigned was Kenya. I struggled with this project because I am big about my kids being independent and doing things themselves. But...he's in kindergarten. He couldn't possibly research about Kenya? He hasn't even ever been allowed to touch my computer ha! He sat with me and I looked up all the information we were supposed to find. He chose each picture that I printed out and he decided how to decorate his board, what to include in his oral presentation, and he glued everything down as well as colored all the letters we used. This was my first experience using a board for a presentation. I ...
We actually don't own a whole lot of Dr. Seuss books so when I got a letter from the school saying they'd be dressing up for "Dr Seuss Day" I had to do some searching! I LOVE themed events and think it's so awesome when school can be FUN. But I don't do well with last minute stuff. If I were running a school y'all know I'd have these events on the calendar months in advance ;) I just am a planner that way and last minute stuff stresses me out! I asked the kids what character they wanted to dress as and really we didn't know a whole lot of them. We own The Cat in the Hat and that's about it as far as the character books of Dr. Seuss are concerned (We are not Lorax people. I can't stand political agendas presented in children's books...don't even get me started on the Lorax!). Kye immediately said he wanted to be The Cat in the Hat! I searched on Pinterest and hunted on Amazon and came up with a cute, simple costume idea. To m...
I may not have a huge blog following but I still take a lot of pride in keeping everything I say here as true to ME. I am honest (sometimes to a fault) and very open about all areas of my life. This post has taken me awhile to write. I just keep putting it off because it's hard for me to talk about the way I've viewed myself, physically, since having Tess. When I had Kye I wasn't bothered at all by the baby weight. I just had a baby! It took 9 months to gain the weight, what's the rush? I didn't overly stress it. Heck, I even wore maternity clothes long into my postpartum days. I gained a lot of weight while pregnant with him and lost it all without too much effort. When I was pregnant with Britt I was more cautious about my eating habits and didn't gain nearly as much weight (I gained the least with her out of all the pregnancies so far). I LOVED how I looked while pregnant with her. Pregnancy looked good and FELT good on me and the postpartum phase als...
I will never forget what it was like when my first baby was born. How overwhelming everything seemed and how lost I felt. Then I read Babywise for the first time. I had clarity and a focus and decided to implement a sleep routine for our home. It was tough, at first, to get everything figured out. It was tricky to stay consistent and to keep my baby on that set schedule. It was hard work but it was work that was worthwhile. Then I added a second child...and now a third one into the mix. Staying on schedule with one child was tricky...but with three?!?! Many people assume as I add more children to my family that I will "give up on that Babywise stuff." That I will decide it's too hard to keep them on all their schedules and I will just go with the flow and not worry about set naps and feeding times. This couldn't be further from what has actually happened. As I've added more children to my home, I've only seen more benefits of Babywise and have only becom...
