Journey Back To Pre-Baby Emily

Thursday, April 2, 2015

I may not have a huge blog following but I still take a lot of pride in keeping everything I say here as true to ME. I am honest (sometimes to a fault) and very open about all areas of my life. This post has taken me awhile to write. I just keep putting it off because it's hard for me to talk about the way I've viewed myself, physically, since having Tess.  When I had Kye I wasn't bothered at all  by the baby weight. I just had a baby! It took 9 months to gain the weight, what's the rush? I didn't overly stress it. Heck, I even wore maternity clothes long into my postpartum days. I gained a lot  of weight while pregnant with him and lost it all without too much effort. When I was pregnant with Britt I was more cautious about my eating habits and didn't gain nearly as much weight (I gained the least with her out of all the pregnancies so far). I LOVED how I looked while pregnant with her. Pregnancy looked good and FELT good on me and the postpartum phase als...

15 Weeks Pregnant

Here's all the wonderful updates about my pregnancy this week! Baby Growth: Blitzen is now about 4 inch long and the size of an apple. He or she is weighing in at about 2 oz and can sense light (if we put a flashlight up to my belly Blitzen would move away from it!). At this point it's also the "time" where we could find out the sex if we desired! I don't wanna know what it is yet...but I just hope either way he or she doesn't have a nose like this baby!!! Belly Picture: I'm having to stick it out less and less each week in order to look pregnant :) I'm still loving the Baby Shines sticker weekly numbers! It'd make such a good gift for someone newly pregnant ya know? I need to remember that! My belly is VERY different from last time around...early on in my pregnancy with Kye I couldn't wear my pants and had to invest in a Bella Band. This time it's so funny to see because it is like my stomach sticks out then BAM goes flat rig...

12 Weeks Pregnant!

I truly do apologize for being MIA this past week. It's the longest I've gone without blogging in forever . I don't really have a valid excuse (although 3 out of town weddings and 1 week in Bermuda all in the same month probably is decently valid!) but it is what it is. I'm back and I'll be catching up ASAP! I missed posting on Friday as we were at the third (and final...for awhile!) wedding! I'm THRILLED to be into my second trimester and here's what's going on in week 12 of this pregnancy journey: Baby Growth: Blitzen is now the size of a lime and just over 2 inches long. So exciting! He or she now has reflexes and if I poke my belly Blitzen will move in response (even though I can't feel it yet)! If we could look inside my belly, here is what Blitzen looks like: Belly Picture: We were at the beach on Friday, which is when I officially hit 12 weeks, so we made due and snapped a picture before lunch. I LOVED the cute stickers Danielle had t...

Indulging in a Craving = a Bigger Baby Belly!

I know I have blogged before about my main pregnancy cravings and the number one item on that list has ALWAYS been Choco Tacos. I first wanted one when Zach and I were in Asheville, NC and he wouldn't buy it for me because it was $3.50 (a rip-off I admit). Of course Taco Bell's no longer sell them and you can't buy them at either of our walmarts, our publix, or any of our gas stations. I've heard that one Mexican restaurant has them but I haven't actually tried going in there for one, at least not yet! Well on our way to Atlanta Friday afternoon we stopped to get gas and I now LOVE the city of Vidalia! I was heading to the bathroom in the gas station and just did my routine peek at the ice cream bar box thing and there it was!!! I was pumped!!! It isn't a secret that I've been wanting one f o r e v e r. I was totally prepared to devour all 290 calories as quickly as possible but of course my husband wanted a bite! Lucky for me he just took a tiny tiny ...

16 week dr. appt

Went to the doctor this morning just to hear the heartbeat and have a general check-up! I still weigh less than I did at my first pregnant dr appointment! I guess I was super bloated or something...isn't that strange? We got to hear our little ones heart and it's very healthy. Healthy should be between 120 and 160 and ours was 148 :) We discussed my raising heart issue and she said it is very common so I feel better abou that! I also asked about my intense migraines and she said from now on right when I feel one coming on I need to take 2 extra strength tylenols and drink a mountain dew then do it again every three hours until the headache goes away! Isn't that hilarious? She said it is sworn to work and it won't hurt the baby, she did say that my heart will probably race more during those times due to the increase in caffeine! I got answers to several of my other questions: The baby can fly anytime as long as the airline allows it and we have it suck on a pacif...

Week 12 - Time to EAT

All this time being pregnant and I have YET to be hungry at all! Well Rachael was right...that day has come :) Over Labor Day weekend I suddenly changed and instead of never being hungry, I get this pain in my stomach if I don't eat a little something every couple hours! I would start being this way on vacation where there are very little healthy foods to choose from! I snacked on Oatmeal Cream Pies and Puffy Cheetos all weekend! haha! I know now that my eating has picked up some (I still wouldn't say I'm one of those pregnant chicks who could win an all-u-can-eat competition or something) I'm sure the weight will start picking up too! I've done well my first trimester in the weight gain department, I was really bloated at first so I gained like 9 lbs (I am adding 4 lbs to my pregnancy weight gain everytime I weigh myself b/c I considered myself 4 lbs overweight when I got pregnant...so really I'd gained 5 lbs of pregnancy weight)! But then it dropped off ...

A Baby Bump! Yay!

On Saturday I officially became 10 weeks pregnant! I figured that this week would be like every other week and that I'd just be sleepy, boobs would hurt, and I wouldn't really notice any other changes. Well I was WRONG! I think God is really just taking care of my I-don't-feel-pregnant worries by allowing me to feel aches in my legs and feet and by changing my morning while trying to get ready for church on Sunday! I woke up like usual and planned on wearing something that matched white shoes since I won't be able to wear them after Labor Day (stupid southern rules...). I pull on a J.Crew shirt I JUST bought a couple months ago and it HUGGED my tummy!!! I wanted so badly to wake up Zach and show him b/c I was so excited (but I didn't). I put on my bella band and everything and nothing would cover the bump! I ended up wearing a babydoll shirt with a tank under it so it wasn't as noticable but I don't think I have enough babydoll kind of shirts to hide i...
