Morning at the Park

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

First, let me apologize for this looong post filled with SO many pictures! I'm sorry but there were just too many good ones and I had to use them all :) The morning of Zach's birthday we decided to take Kye on his first trip to our neighborhood park to play. We went right after his 7 am feeding because we knew it wouldn't be crowded and the sun wouldn't be too bright. It was perfect weather and Kye LOVED it! Swinging with Mommy And with Daddy First time down a slide! Playing on his own Mommy and Daddy had to step in once it went in the mouth :) Peaking through the rock climbing wall Peak-a-boo! My favorites...such a big boy! I love that laugh Thinking hard Some lady offered to take a family picture of us! I'll never turn down that opportunity :) First time in a swing! He loved it, of course! "Hi Mommy!" Waiting to be pushed again On the play set Making music! It was such a fun morning, even though we only stayed out ther...

Officially Swaddle Free!

From the beginning the swaddle has been a wonderful sleep tool for our family! Kye LOVED it and it really helped him to be able to sleep. I don't know what we would have done without our Swaddlemes ! The first couple of weeks of Kye's life he was too small to use the size Small ones we had and it was tough to swaddle him the old fashioned way with blankets. He did great once the Smalls fit and then came the day when he fit into the biggest size they have. I bought 2 cotton ones and one fleece one thinking that we'd mostly use the cotton ones and guess what? Kye only liked the fleece one! The poor kid would be SO sweaty but hey he slept great! (Here he is last week when he broke out of the swaddle and moved to his tummy) For the last month or so my gut has been telling me that it's time to get rid of the swaddle but I've been too afraid to let it go. I worried that he wouldn't be able to sleep without it! So instead I spent his entire second half of each ...

5 Months Old!

Monday, August 10, 2009

Here is where What to Expect the First Year recommends that a 5 month old "should" be at developmentally and here is how Kye stacks up to that right now along with some cute pictures to remember his 5th month by! Kye and Payton...2 months apart! Kye can do all of the thigns a five month old "should be doing": hold head steady when upright on stomach, raise chest, supported by arms pay attention to an object as small as a raisen squeal in delight reach for an object smile spontaneously smile back when you smile (love it!) grasp a rattle held to the backs or tips of fingers keep head level with body when pulled to sitting Kye can do most of the things that a 5 month old "will probably. may possibly, and may even" be able to do including: roll over one way bear some weight on legs say "ah-goo" or similar vowel consonant combinations razz turn in the direction of a voice pull up to a standing position from sitting stand holdin...

Summary of Month 5

Here are some of the many changes Kye has experienced during his 5th month of life! Reaching: Last month Kye really started reaching with a purpose. He's now reaching and GRABBING things! It's tough b/c a lot of the time he is wanting to play with things he's not allowed to have so we can't ever let him actually get what he wants. But it's super cute when he reaches out for Mommy and Daddy! He will grab our faces and pull us in for a "kiss" (really he's trying to bite us). So precious! He LOVES to reach for the camera and for the red decorations in our house as this video shows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RiokrFFArs Diapers Kye is in size 3 diapers now which I think he'll stay in them for awhile! It's annoying how the bigger the diaper, the LESS that come in the package. Ugh! We still love Pampers and I'm not super crazy about the Cruiser ones we're using right now. So far my favorite diaper is Pampers Dry Fit :) And afte...

My First Mommy Day!

Thursday, August 6, 2009

In honor of Kye's 5 month day on Tuesday I had a day all about me! haha! It worked out very nicely as I got to spend time with Kye in the morning then at about 11 Mrs. Charlotte came by and picked him up and I headed to the spa! Zach had gotten me a spa day back for my birthday but they wouldn't let me use it close to my due date for fear it'd send me into labor (which was what I was hoping it would do haha) so I finally got to use it! I had an hour and a half massage and the girl told me I have next to ZERO amounts of stress! It was great to hear b/c I'm a high stress person (shocked right?) and I've really been working on not getting so stressed all the time. I guess it's working! The massage was just ok. She really wasn't very good at it at all and talked my ear off the ENTIRE time which is a BIG pet peeve of mine (I PAY to RELAX not to hear about your life lady!). But the hour long facial was much better! It felt so good on my face and even though it mad...
