Brittlynn's 7th week of life was from January 17th - the 23rd. Here's what we were up to that week: Sleep: BIG events in the world of sleep for Miss Britt! On 1/17 she had her first FLAWLESS day of sleep. Never had to go in her room once the WHOLE day. Hard work takes awhile to pay off but it made it all worth it for sure ;) She also ate wonderfully that day, for about 45 min each feeding and had awesome awake times!!! It was one of those days you just want to hold onto forever. That night she broke out of her swaddle for the first time but the next night (Wed Jan 18th) she SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!! A little over six weeks old and she slept from her dreamfeed at 10:30 (so I put her down close to 11:30) until 7!!! When Kye first sttn he was eight weeks old and I remember vividly Zach and I freaking out because we were worried about him. Of course this was before we owned a video monitor or an angel care monitor so Zach ran across the house to make sure he was breathi...
From the beginning the swaddle has been a wonderful sleep tool for our family! Kye LOVED it and it really helped him to be able to sleep. I don't know what we would have done without our Swaddlemes ! The first couple of weeks of Kye's life he was too small to use the size Small ones we had and it was tough to swaddle him the old fashioned way with blankets. He did great once the Smalls fit and then came the day when he fit into the biggest size they have. I bought 2 cotton ones and one fleece one thinking that we'd mostly use the cotton ones and guess what? Kye only liked the fleece one! The poor kid would be SO sweaty but hey he slept great! (Here he is last week when he broke out of the swaddle and moved to his tummy) For the last month or so my gut has been telling me that it's time to get rid of the swaddle but I've been too afraid to let it go. I worried that he wouldn't be able to sleep without it! So instead I spent his entire second half of each ...
Obviously, I've stopped the weekly Kye updates as changes have been less often I feel it can be summed up once a month in one LONG post! So here goes nothing! Here are the changes Kye has been going through this past month as he now is FOUR months old: Sleep Issues Oh I thought I had it all solved...it turns out when you fix one issue there will always be another one coming up right behind it. He's still sleeping like an angel through the night and we've moved his bedtime up from 9 to 8:30 and plan to eventually , most likely, make it more like 8 but it's tough to get it all done by then! His naps, however, have gone back to being not-so-great. He'll sleep perfectly the first half of the nap then not at all the second half. I'm not joking when I say that the child wakes up EXACTLY 45 min (to the actual min) into his nap. It's such a pain and I get stuck spending the last hour and 15 min of his nap in and out of his room trying to solve the issue. I...
Week Change Ok , so I'm an idiot. But I also think this whole age thing is confusing as crap! When we are born we are in our 1st year but then we turn 1 year old and when we are 1 year old we're actually into our 2 nd year! It works the same way with weeks. Kye's first week he was actually 0, his second week he was 1 week old, etc. This whole time I've been doing it wrong. Since he turns 12 weeks old today this whole past week has actually been his 12 th week, not his 11 th ! Confusing? Yes! But I'm going to go back and correct all the weeks that I've written about :) Now, onto this past week...which is when Kye was 11 weeks old but was living his 12 th week of life! haha SIDS We've been battling it out with the naps and thought he may be ready to be done with the swaddle so I tried laying him down in a sleeper and when Zach checked on him he thought he was cold so he put a blanket on him. When I walked in and saw this it was too cute not to snap...
