4 Month Check Up

I hate that we are so off on Kye's appointments! This Wednesday Kye had his 4 month check-up, even though he's more like 4 1/2 months. His 6 month check-up he'll be a week shy of 7 months! They assured me that we will get back on track at his 9 month check-up though which is good! I try hard to handle things that come up with Kye on my own by using the internet, friends, or books. I'm not one of those "omg call the dr." type people. That being said, when I AM going to go to the dr. I come up with several questions to ask because I want to make sure I'm doing things as they would have me do them! Why do we bother dressing Kye up all cute for the visits? He always ends up being naked anyway! Here he is with Daddy waiting for Stephanie to come in! This time the appointment fell at the end of his nap and during his feeding time so we had to feed him a bottle while we were waiting. It worked out well though because he was in a great mood for the doctor! ...

Week 15 Summary

Kye's Changes This Week: 4 Hour Schedule: This is very exciting! Babywise suggests that by the time a baby is 4 months old they should be on the four hour schedule (eating at 7, 11, 3, and 7). I planned on waiting until Kye was closer to the 4 month marker just to make sure he was ready but Saturday we moved it! Since Autumn was here for his pictures he went down for his nap almost an hour late and was soooo sleepy. I let him sleep until 11 instead of the normal 10:30. He did fine! So the next nap I tried to put him down later and he slept again until 3. I was worried about the 7 pm feeding though b/c that means he had to go 12 hours without eating again. I thought for sure he'd wake up in the middle of the night! But since Katie and Ashley were over and he played A LOT with them and was outside a lot he was so tired we didn't hear a thing out of him all night! Being on a 4 hour schedule is wonderful as his naps have been SO much better (since he's 4 hours now he ...

Week 14 Summary

I'm still waiting for the week to come when there isn't something to say! Maybe kids never stop having interesting weeks? It seems like stuff is ALWAYS changing!!! Doesn't he look so much older? Turns out he's bigger too! Size Changes: He's now wearing size 2-3 diapers (which I like b/c they have a wide range for weight so they fit him now while his 2s are too small and will continue to fit when the 3s fit him!) AND is wearing size 6 month clothes! I'm in the process of going through the 3 month stuff and deciding what to keep for the next boy someday. We also had several 3 month stuff that he never wore so I'm super glad I kept tags on because our Carter's store will return no matter how long you've had it! Yay! Zantac: A couple weeks ago we dropped the night dose of the Zantac and I haven't seen any side effects. I've been scared to drop the morning one just because I was worried he'd be in pain. Well, I did it! Goodbye Zantac...

Week 12 Summary

Week Change Ok , so I'm an idiot. But I also think this whole age thing is confusing as crap! When we are born we are in our 1st year but then we turn 1 year old and when we are 1 year old we're actually into our 2 nd year! It works the same way with weeks. Kye's first week he was actually 0, his second week he was 1 week old, etc. This whole time I've been doing it wrong. Since he turns 12 weeks old today this whole past week has actually been his 12 th week, not his 11 th ! Confusing? Yes! But I'm going to go back and correct all the weeks that I've written about :) Now, onto this past week...which is when Kye was 11 weeks old but was living his 12 th week of life! haha SIDS We've been battling it out with the naps and thought he may be ready to be done with the swaddle so I tried laying him down in a sleeper and when Zach checked on him he thought he was cold so he put a blanket on him. When I walked in and saw this it was too cute not to snap...

Two Month Dr. Visit

This morning was Kye's 2 month well visit to Dr. Griner's office. It was also the day I've been dreading...shots! We waited for a time when Zach would be able to go because I am very very afraid of needles (worst part of labor? the iv!) and I know the baby can sense that from me so I don't want him to be afraid of them too. When I take Levi and Sadie to the vet I always leave the room so duh I'll do the same with my child! We gave him Tylenol about an hour before his appointment because it's supposed to help. Of course the box said "ask dr." for the dosage so I googled it and we gave him 0.4 ml which ends up being half of what we should have given him based on his weight. Poor thing! He was cuddled up to Daddy before the nurses came in (of course the appointment fell during nap time). We didn't see Dr. Griner this time, we saw Stephanie again and she's super nice. She said with my milk situation that I may want to pump every feeding and...

Week Nine Summary

It's hard to believe my little boy is 10 weeks old! Not a newborn anymore huh? Not that he has looked like a newborn for awhile but still I liked the excuse, "well we just had a baby." I guess I can't get away with that one anymore dangit ! Anyway here's what's been going on this week: Hands Together When I did his 2 month update I realized I didn't know if he can hold his hands together or not so I thought I'd watch out for it this week. And he can! Napping I know I mentioned before the nightmare I've had with naps. I've spent this week reading all I can on the Babywise Blog to try to get some advice. I considered trying Cry It Out...which is a big BW thing where you let the baby cry until they stop on their own, even if it's the whole nap. I feel guilty doing this because it's my fault he cries since he's only crying b/c he wants the pacifier back! I spent the week logging all of his naps and I discovered that he typica...
