It is awesome to see how well supported breastfeeding mothers our in society today! Women nurse in public with less shame and more support. Women pump during office hours and aren't hassled as often about the time away from their desks. Breastfeeding is becoming more and more common ( According to the CDC, 45% of all mothers in 2008 were still breastfeeding at 6 months ). It's wonderful that breastfeeding mothers are getting more support. Breastfeeding is not easy . Let's be real, even if you formula feed motherhood is not easy! Being a new mom is scary. There is so much pressure. You have this little baby in your arms that completely and fully relies on YOU for everything . It's all so new and it's such huge adjustment that literally affects every aspect of your life. How about we quit adding extra pressure to new moms? I can't even count the number of times as a new mom that I heard "Breastfeeding is awesome! It'll make the baby weight just fall ...
I'm still waiting for the week to come when there isn't something to say! Maybe kids never stop having interesting weeks? It seems like stuff is ALWAYS changing!!! Doesn't he look so much older? Turns out he's bigger too! Size Changes: He's now wearing size 2-3 diapers (which I like b/c they have a wide range for weight so they fit him now while his 2s are too small and will continue to fit when the 3s fit him!) AND is wearing size 6 month clothes! I'm in the process of going through the 3 month stuff and deciding what to keep for the next boy someday. We also had several 3 month stuff that he never wore so I'm super glad I kept tags on because our Carter's store will return no matter how long you've had it! Yay! Zantac: A couple weeks ago we dropped the night dose of the Zantac and I haven't seen any side effects. I've been scared to drop the morning one just because I was worried he'd be in pain. Well, I did it! Goodbye Zantac...
Here's an update on what's new during Kye's 13th week of life (making him 13 weeks old today!) Not much new, but some cute pics! I took this after nursing him in Brunswick...see how FAT he looks right after eating? Fat and Happy! Hair I knew Kye's been losing hair but I didn't really realize how much! I was using my new camera (expect WAY more pics thanks to that thing! I'm loving it) and I noticed in his crib that his sheet is COVERED in his hair! Gross! Poor Patches haha! He's not just bald in the front, like you can see in all his pics, but he's also lost a lot in he back. I know it's normal and I know it'll grow back so I'm not stressing! Doesn't every mom think their child is sooo precious when sleeping? Bottle Issues He's been having some bottle eating issues this week which worried me. He would NOT take a full bottle while we were in Brunswick and would sometimes take an HOUR to finish it! So annoying! I started thi...
Week Change Ok , so I'm an idiot. But I also think this whole age thing is confusing as crap! When we are born we are in our 1st year but then we turn 1 year old and when we are 1 year old we're actually into our 2 nd year! It works the same way with weeks. Kye's first week he was actually 0, his second week he was 1 week old, etc. This whole time I've been doing it wrong. Since he turns 12 weeks old today this whole past week has actually been his 12 th week, not his 11 th ! Confusing? Yes! But I'm going to go back and correct all the weeks that I've written about :) Now, onto this past week...which is when Kye was 11 weeks old but was living his 12 th week of life! haha SIDS We've been battling it out with the naps and thought he may be ready to be done with the swaddle so I tried laying him down in a sleeper and when Zach checked on him he thought he was cold so he put a blanket on him. When I walked in and saw this it was too cute not to snap...
We all know the saying, "You don't know what you have until it's gone." Well, I think whoever originally said this quote was talking about a woman's body before a baby vs. after a baby!!! I never really considered myself thin. While I never had to work out or diet to keep up my body, I didn't consider it a body worth showing off. Now as I look at my current body I realize that the old body was hotttt. Haha! I envy myself! I wish I could have that body back dangit!!! First, I want to let all the pregnant ladies know that the whole breastfeeding-will-take-the-weight-right-off thing is a myth. At least it has been for me. I gained 39 lb with my pregnancy and when I left the hospital I had dropped about 20, leaving me 19 to lose to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Well I weighed myself on Sunday the 3rd which was 2 months post partum and I still had 16 lb to lose to get to my pre-pregnancy weight! SIXTEEN which means in 8 weeks of breastfeeding I'd only los...
I've been following the Babywise Blog that I mentioned in an earlier post and something I like that she does is a weekly report on how her baby is doing. I think this is a GREAT idea so I can compare how Kye is at such and such week to how the next baby is. I'm going to attempt to do this each Wednesday since Kye was born on a Wednesday and each one makes him one week older! Once the weeks quit having so many changes in them I'll probably change it to a monthly thing! Diapers Kye has grown out of the size 1 Pampers so I tried him in some of the Huggies we have. Before hearing how much better Pampers is than Huggies I bought some Huggies since they are much cheaper! Using the size 1-2 Huggies was our first experience with them and they are SO much smaller than Pampers! I put him in ONE of the transition diapers and it gave him red lines from being too tight already! Luckily I also had a bag of transition 1-2 Pampers so we're using those. But what a waste! I also have...
