It's been a BUSY month for Mr. Kye!!! Crib: One afternoon Zach and I were eating lunch or something and we heard Kye bust out laughing on the monitor. We had to go in there to see what he was cracking up about when he should have been sleeping and we found him standing up in his crib! It was so funny! He was so proud of himself! Of course, we decided right then that it was time to put the crib lower! I love it lower and think the crib actually looks prettier this way! Fast Crawling: Kye is no longer scooting around he is full fledged crawling! Here's a video of my little speed demon in action! Panting: I didn't take a video of Kye doing his famous panting sound because he does it in every video. If you didn't know any better you'd think the kid suffered from severe asthma haha! It's just something he's does and actually he's pretty much always done. It's just his thing. When he gets excited he pants haha I wonder if it's from living with...
I've blogged about my issues with the confusion of solid foods before and how I was never going to make my own baby food. Well I'm sort of a hypocrite! While I haven't made actual baby food I have changed my ideas about what I feed Kye. I recently read an article in Parents magazine (Nov 2009) called Make Your Baby a Veggie Lover. The article really hit home to me. I am a picky eater and I really think a lot of that has to do with not being able to smell. For me, food is more about texture than anything else. Well this article talked about why toddlers are known for being so picky...they aren't used to the textures of food! Think about it. I feed Kye all this jarred baby food and then one day BAM it's gone and I expect him to eat real food and like it. That's confusing. It also said that the jarred stuff doesn't even taste like the real stuff. How's he supposed to like it then? The article says that if you give a baby a food repeatedly at this age h...
Kye is such a big boy now eating solids in his high chair! We have a nice little routine (shocker) where he nurses, we cuddle (if he's in the mood...), then I put him in his high chair to play while I get his food ready. I make him 1/4 cup of rice cereal (mixed with 1/4 cup of pure water) plus he eats 1/2 of a little tub of the Gerber 1st foods. Yes, he eats THAT much! Since he only gets veges at 2 meals a day (7 am and 11 am), then doesn't eat solids at all at 3, he pigs out at 7 pm! We typically have to give him MORE rice cereal than 1/4 a cup! One night he ate about 3/4 a cup! While he's eating I sign "more" before almost every bite and I sign "all done" when I can tell he's full. You know he's full because he'll a) quit opening his mouth b) start whining c) start misbehaving (making raspberries, putting his hands on the spoon, putting his hands in his mouth. After he's done I wipe him off and give him back the toy. I LOVE this toy!!! ...
I hate that we are so off on Kye's appointments! This Wednesday Kye had his 4 month check-up, even though he's more like 4 1/2 months. His 6 month check-up he'll be a week shy of 7 months! They assured me that we will get back on track at his 9 month check-up though which is good! I try hard to handle things that come up with Kye on my own by using the internet, friends, or books. I'm not one of those "omg call the dr." type people. That being said, when I AM going to go to the dr. I come up with several questions to ask because I want to make sure I'm doing things as they would have me do them! Why do we bother dressing Kye up all cute for the visits? He always ends up being naked anyway! Here he is with Daddy waiting for Stephanie to come in! This time the appointment fell at the end of his nap and during his feeding time so we had to feed him a bottle while we were waiting. It worked out well though because he was in a great mood for the doctor! ...
