Before leaving the hospital they weighed me! I'm lucky in that I had my check up the morning I went into labor so I know exactly how much weight I gained overall. 39 lbs! Thank the Lord I had Kye the day I did or it for sure would have gone over 40 haha! Well when they weighed me I had lost 20 lbs in ONE DAY! So awesome! I had never planned on telling Zach my "number" but he was in the room when they weighed me and I said "Dang 20 lbs!" So he could do the math...let's just say it was a number I never ever hope to see again!!! Even though Kye didn't get done with his circumcision until later than planned and I had to feed him before we left and we waited a million years for someone to come cut our hospital bracelets off, we still got out of there before 9:00. I promise I won't be blogging about every single detail of every single day but these first couple of weeks have SO much stuff happening and so many useful things to know and remember! After delivery I felt great. Super great! I was upbeat and happy when everyone was in the room. After everyone left (and after I called Dad) Elizabeth told me I had to go pee in order to be allowed to take out the IV and that if I couldn't go pee within the next hour I'd have to have a catheter put in and have to leave in the IV too. Zach and I struggled into the bathroom with the IV but I told them it wasn't really fair seeing as I'd had NOTHING to drink. I couldn't go but promised them if they would load me up with some drinks that I'd go before the time needed to do it. With the Bradley Method Dr. Bradley suggests having OJ after delivery. He said that it rehydrates you the quickest and that most new moms say it's the most awesome thing they've ever tasted. Omg ...
We are officially experts on all things baby and parenting! haha...well at least we should be after the completion of allll these classes we've taken! After a long drive back from Gatlinburg (Zach keeps saying we went to North Carolina...random) we had to get ready and go to the TLC class the same night! I was one of the only two pregnant women who attended the class. Our largest class was the epidural one and the smallest was the one on actually caring for the baby! Kinda ironic! While we didn't enjoy the postpartum class so much this one was MUCH more beneficial and I'm glad it was the last class as it covered more of the fun aspects of parenting instead of so much gross-ness. Things we learned in this class included: The bulb syringe needs to be pushed in before placing it in the baby's cheeks and nose then release it to get the gunk out.
