I can't stand blogging out of order, but sometimes stuff happens where you just have to. I thank everyone for your prayers for Kye's Surgery and didn't want to leave you hanging for like a month to find out what all happened. Kye had surgery on Monday April 2nd. We got home from Casey's wedding weekend Sunday morning then had our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt that afternoon (many posts to come on both, I promise!). It was nice to stay busy. It helped me keep my mind off things. Sunday night I started preparing for Monday. We made sure Kye had a LOT to drink right before bed since he wouldn't be allowed to eat or drink anything after midnight (not that he has ever had anything to drink or eat after bedtime anyway!). We also put him to sleep in his favorite Woody pjs so we could just grab him and go the next morning. To prepare for surgery I read this blog post from The Babywise Mom. I always trust Val's advice on anything parenting related and again s...
I waaay waaay waaaaaaay over-packed for the hospital. We did this because I hate hospitals, we wanted to have entertainment in case I had a slow, long labor while in the hospital, and I didn't know for sure that I'd leave within 24 hours so I wanted to have plenty of my things to keep me company if I ended up staying longer. Seeing as I had a 8 hour labor and delivery from start to finish for the first baby, I know the next ones will probably be falling out of me when I reach the hospital doors! So from now on, I'll be packing much lighter. Here are the essentials I plan to pack next time (let's not look back and the MILLION things I packed this time haha): Our pillows: I did that this time and was glad I did. However, I put light blue pillow cases on them thinking I'd save the hassle of accidentally getting them mixed up with the hospital ones..and guess what? The hospitals are light blue! So next time I'm going for black ones :) I-Fan: A MUST!!! I ...
Before leaving the hospital they weighed me! I'm lucky in that I had my check up the morning I went into labor so I know exactly how much weight I gained overall. 39 lbs! Thank the Lord I had Kye the day I did or it for sure would have gone over 40 haha! Well when they weighed me I had lost 20 lbs in ONE DAY! So awesome! I had never planned on telling Zach my "number" but he was in the room when they weighed me and I said "Dang 20 lbs!" So he could do the math...let's just say it was a number I never ever hope to see again!!! Even though Kye didn't get done with his circumcision until later than planned and I had to feed him before we left and we waited a million years for someone to come cut our hospital bracelets off, we still got out of there before 9:00. I know a lot of people will think I'm dumb for coming home that late but I don't care. I really really wanted to get HOME and I'm so thankful I did! Mom, Mr. Rusty, and Mrs. Charlotte...
I promise I won't be blogging about every single detail of every single day but these first couple of weeks have SO much stuff happening and so many useful things to know and remember! After delivery I felt great. Super great! I was upbeat and happy when everyone was in the room. After everyone left (and after I called Dad) Elizabeth told me I had to go pee in order to be allowed to take out the IV and that if I couldn't go pee within the next hour I'd have to have a catheter put in and have to leave in the IV too. Zach and I struggled into the bathroom with the IV but I told them it wasn't really fair seeing as I'd had NOTHING to drink. I couldn't go but promised them if they would load me up with some drinks that I'd go before the time needed to do it. With the Bradley Method Dr. Bradley suggests having OJ after delivery. He said that it rehydrates you the quickest and that most new moms say it's the most awesome thing they've ever tasted. Omg ...
