Today is Pinterest Day with the lovely Babywise Friendly Blog Network Ladies! Our topic is household organization. I love me some organization. Everything has a place and it makes it SO much easier to tidy up around the house when everyone knows where everything goes! With back to school around the corner I thought a post about kids clothing was in order. I am a quantity over quality person when it comes to clothing. I shop cheap (as in 80-90% of my kids clothes are from consignment sales) but I shop a lot . Everything my kids own typically costs $10 or less but they have a closet FULL of clothes. I can't resist a good deal ;) Here are some of my tips for keeping kids clothing organized: Have a Laundry Day: I know a common thing that is said about moms is that we're always doing laundry. Not this mama! Mondays are my laundry day. I do ALL of my laundry that day (I read somewhere that it actually helps with energy costs when you do loads back to back?). As I unload th...
With the heat of this summer and the HUGE window in Kye's room which keeps it from ever cooling down in there, Kye was in need of some short sleeved pjs. Zach okayed me ordering some from The Children's Place (seriously they have the BEST sales and the CUTEST boy clothes ever!). When I went to place my order I realized that Kye is right on the border of wearing 24 months sizes in their clothes (24 months starts at 26 lbs and at his 15 month exam he weighed 25.5lb). The cheapest short sleeved pjs they had were a 2T so I figured I'd just order them and if they were too big I could return to store (I love that they let you do that!). Well...THEY FIT. I could cry seeing my "baby" in a 2 freaking T!!!!! One night Zach was getting home late from work so I put on Kye's new pjs and let him run around a bit before bed. I had to share my cutie in his big boy pajamas! Saying "night night" to Zeke and Sadie When I told him it was "night night" ti...
When I was pregnant I thought I might be a hardcore mom. The kind that cleans everything like crazy and is super germ scared. Turns out I'm not! haha! But when I was in that phase I loaded up on Dreft and washed all the clothes we got (which weren't many while I was pregnant since the sex was a surprise!). When Kye was born and the baby boy clothes started pouring in I washed everything first and washed it all with Dreft. I thought it was kinda stupid but I didn't want to screw up so I stuck with it for a little while. Then he grew out of newborn clothes and had somethings he hadn't worn. Well since they had been washed I couldn't sell them on EBay as new and since they were missing tags I couldn't return them to the stores. I decided then to change things up! Now I have a pretty good routine down. When Kye becomes a new size I go shopping and buy him cute little outfits and such. I then leave ALL the tags on them and when he grows to a new size I return all ...
When we decided to be surprised at the sex of our baby one of the few things I was disappointed about was that I wouldn't be able to buy cute little baby clothes. I knew I didn't want a bunch of neutral stuff so I was stuck without buying ANYTHING until little Clover came into the world! Well he came and he's a HE so I was pumped to be able to let the shopping begin! My first disappointment? Um there. are. no. boy. clothes. anywhere. Girl stuff? EVERYWHERE. And it's super cute. Boys stuff? Not so much. The baby department in a store is typically filled with 3/4 girls clothes and 1/4 boys. I'm not kidding! With the selection being slim it gets even tougher seeing as I'm picky and so is Zach. We don't want our son looking like a little pilgrim. And if you live in the south like we do then you know what I'm talking about. Little boys running around with pansy little outfits on that you KNOW they'll be sooo embarrassed of later in life. Also we don...
I'm still waiting for the week to come when there isn't something to say! Maybe kids never stop having interesting weeks? It seems like stuff is ALWAYS changing!!! Doesn't he look so much older? Turns out he's bigger too! Size Changes: He's now wearing size 2-3 diapers (which I like b/c they have a wide range for weight so they fit him now while his 2s are too small and will continue to fit when the 3s fit him!) AND is wearing size 6 month clothes! I'm in the process of going through the 3 month stuff and deciding what to keep for the next boy someday. We also had several 3 month stuff that he never wore so I'm super glad I kept tags on because our Carter's store will return no matter how long you've had it! Yay! Zantac: A couple weeks ago we dropped the night dose of the Zantac and I haven't seen any side effects. I've been scared to drop the morning one just because I was worried he'd be in pain. Well, I did it! Goodbye Zantac...
As we all know, I was 90% positive that my little "Clover" was a girl. And most of you (although now, after the fact, sooo many people feel the need to say "I totally thought it was a boy!") also voted that Parker Baby would be a she! We were all wrong, and I'm glad to have a son! Neither Zach or I have had the family dynamic that we will be having within our own little family. I was the first born, a girl. And Zach's older sister, Courtney, was the first born (also a girl obviously). So this whole boy-first thing will be a really fun experience for all of us! Kye is not only our first born, he's the first Parker of the next generation. He is also the first Sedgley grandson on my side! Pretty exciting stuff :) 4 Generations! They have a Parker saying..."if you put a good bull in the pasture..." While I expected a girl, I'm glad to have a son. It will be neat that he can protect the younger children and hopefully date our daughters frie...
I promise I won't be blogging about every single detail of every single day but these first couple of weeks have SO much stuff happening and so many useful things to know and remember! After delivery I felt great. Super great! I was upbeat and happy when everyone was in the room. After everyone left (and after I called Dad) Elizabeth told me I had to go pee in order to be allowed to take out the IV and that if I couldn't go pee within the next hour I'd have to have a catheter put in and have to leave in the IV too. Zach and I struggled into the bathroom with the IV but I told them it wasn't really fair seeing as I'd had NOTHING to drink. I couldn't go but promised them if they would load me up with some drinks that I'd go before the time needed to do it. With the Bradley Method Dr. Bradley suggests having OJ after delivery. He said that it rehydrates you the quickest and that most new moms say it's the most awesome thing they've ever tasted. Omg ...
