The sippy cup has been somewhat of a struggle for us. I started when Kye was a little over 6 months old to offer him some water in a Nuby sippy with handles . He took to it pretty well and even drank breast milk from it occasionally without much issues. My problem with the transition was actually my breastfeeding. Since Kye only had bottles a couple times a week it was hard to get him used to drinking from the sippy. Especially since the only time he did get bottles was when we were going places that would be too hard to have him try the sippy first like church, restaurants, and such. I kinda of gave up on the sippy thing for awhile and just offered it to him after he ate solids with some water in it. He would drink from it, but he mostly just played with it. When I went to introduce formula I was tempted to introduce it in a sippy and not a bottle but I knew he'd have a hard enough time getting used to drinking something other than breast milk so I didn't want to push my l...
I know everyone is dying for an update on my boobs haha! Well they are doing great, thanks! :) Really though, this whole weaning process is going so smoothly. Wayyyy easier than I thought it would for sure! Since he had issues with the formula at first (just didn't like it) I slowly got him adjusted to it by mixing 5 oz breast milk with 1 oz formula on day 1, then 4 and 2 then 3 and 3 etc. I would give him the bottle mixed with breastmilk I pumped the day before and I would then pump for the missed feeding in order to get milk for the next day. I did this for a week then he was able to drink an entire bottle of formula with no issues! So I quit pumping and my breasts adjusted fine. I really never felt any discomfort when I dropped the 3:00 nurse session. I knew it'd be the "easiest" to drop because it's a "snack" instead of a big feeding but I was still happy that it went so well. I nursed him for the other three feedings and did formula at the 3:00...
Warning: I am discussing my feelings in this post and am not trying to offend anyone. However, this is my blog and my opinions and I want to be honest about them! When I first was pregnant I wasn't sure about the whole nursing thing. I didn't really know if it'd be for me and thought it was kinda strange to think about my baby sucking on my boobs. As I got further and further along in my pregnancy I started reading every book under the sun and learned all the benefits of breast milk and how important it is for the baby and the mommy. I was still not a mother yet and my main reason for deciding to nurse was that I wanted it to help me lose weight. I thought it'd be a great diet plan for getting rid of the baby weight (so not true though sadly!)! I didn't decide to do it because I thought it was necessarily best for my baby, but because it'd be best for me. As all moms know, we put ourselves FIRST until the day that child is born then it's all about them :...
I'm still waiting for the week to come when there isn't something to say! Maybe kids never stop having interesting weeks? It seems like stuff is ALWAYS changing!!! Doesn't he look so much older? Turns out he's bigger too! Size Changes: He's now wearing size 2-3 diapers (which I like b/c they have a wide range for weight so they fit him now while his 2s are too small and will continue to fit when the 3s fit him!) AND is wearing size 6 month clothes! I'm in the process of going through the 3 month stuff and deciding what to keep for the next boy someday. We also had several 3 month stuff that he never wore so I'm super glad I kept tags on because our Carter's store will return no matter how long you've had it! Yay! Zantac: A couple weeks ago we dropped the night dose of the Zantac and I haven't seen any side effects. I've been scared to drop the morning one just because I was worried he'd be in pain. Well, I did it! Goodbye Zantac...
Here's an update on what's new during Kye's 13th week of life (making him 13 weeks old today!) Not much new, but some cute pics! I took this after nursing him in Brunswick...see how FAT he looks right after eating? Fat and Happy! Hair I knew Kye's been losing hair but I didn't really realize how much! I was using my new camera (expect WAY more pics thanks to that thing! I'm loving it) and I noticed in his crib that his sheet is COVERED in his hair! Gross! Poor Patches haha! He's not just bald in the front, like you can see in all his pics, but he's also lost a lot in he back. I know it's normal and I know it'll grow back so I'm not stressing! Doesn't every mom think their child is sooo precious when sleeping? Bottle Issues He's been having some bottle eating issues this week which worried me. He would NOT take a full bottle while we were in Brunswick and would sometimes take an HOUR to finish it! So annoying! I started thi...
I've been pumping everyday (sometimes twice a day) since Kye was 2 weeks old! The lactation lady said I could start giving him a bottle after he was 4 weeks old. Wednesday was the 4 week marker so we decided to give him a bottle Thursday night. I know most people would probably let their husbands give the first bottle but I couldn't. I know I haven't been super positive about my breastfeeding experience and I really have been feeling like I don't enjoy it at all, but I realized I actually feel a lot differently when I went to give him that bottle. It BOTHERED me. My eyes welled up with tears and, even though the bottle was filled with breast milk, I hated the idea of him getting his nourishment from another source than me! That's our special time! I know it's for the best though as we live very busy lives and I refuse to nurse while out and about. We also mixed in his nighly dose of medicine into the bottle too so he'd get it down. We gave him 2 1/2...
